Happy Birthday!

She's here!

Coralie Ivy
4/8/13 @ 11:43pm
7 lbs 1oz 19.5 inches

All day long I had weird contractions starting about midnight on 4/8. I'd go for a few hours and not have any, or have several in a short amount of time - all of different intensities. Nothing predictable at all. Finally that afternoon, I suddenly had a bunch at about 3 minutes apart so AJ and I headed to the hospital. The minute we got in the car, the contractions stopped! Luckily the hospital is only 10 minutes away so we sat in the parking lot for awhile just to see and NOTHING happened.  AJ and I decided to go out to dinner. We had dinner, and I managed to squeeze out a few more contractions, so afterwards - back to the hospital parking lot and STILL nothing! So then we decided to walk around the Goodwill that was nearby. Again a few contractions but nothing great. Finally we decided to head home.

We got home about 7:50pm. The kids were so disappointed to see us home again. I was tired so I went upstairs to go to bed and wallow in self pity. Coralie has always been extremely active at night so she was moving like crazy. It was now 8:30pm and I felt a large body part of some sort move and at the same time heard a loud POP!!! and a little release of pressure. My first thought was "that is how people say water breaking is like." But I checked and there was no water. So I laid back in bed and about 10 minutes later I had a fairly strong contraction - which was not unusual based on my day - so I didn't think much of it. Then about 15 minutes later another big contraction. That one I crawled up on my hands and knees to get through and when I started to lay back down - GUSH. I think being on my hands and knees moved her position enough that my water - which really had broken 30 minutes before - suddenly came out. I of course charged downstairs and told AJ it was time to go. With how fast my other labors have been I was super worried that my water had broken and I wouldn't make it in time. My mom says it was about 2 minutes from coming downstairs to driving off in the car.

My water gushed off and on the whole way to the hospital and when they wheeled me up to labor and delivery they skipped right over triage and took me straight to my room. They checked and I was 5cm and STILL gushing. I had no idea that so much water could be in me! Holy cow! I started having contractions about 5 minutes apart. I got my wonderful epidural and hung out and rested until push time. At 11:20pm they said I was complete. The push process was so funny because it was so quiet. The doctor didn't talk, the nurses didn't talk, I didn't talk. It was very peaceful the whole time. Occasionally between contractions we'd joke but overall - just silence and peace. I pushed for about 20 minutes and it was 3 hours from water break to baby here.

It looks like she potentially has the same left side dimple that Liliana, Lincoln, and I all have. Blue eyes, of course, and a head of dark hair the same as Liliana's. I can't tell yet who her face resembles over all though.
